biography

Alayne Sahar is a Romantic Realist Watercolor painter whose aesthetic depicts the female figure in the natural world where the mood is romantic and the women are portrayed as ardent poetic beings who evoke the soulful side of femininity. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and raised in West LongBranch, a small northern Jersey coastal town.
She graduated with a Certificate in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1997 and continues her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She is influenced by the paintings ofViolet Oakley, John Waterhouse, Alphonse Mucha and the Pre-Raphaelites. She has been the Pennsylvania State Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America since 2021. Alayne is aSignature/Elected member of various state/regional watercolor organizations and art clubs and has won numerous awards for her paintings.
Her work has been shown at the Salmagundi Club, The National Arts Club, The Wausau Museum ofContemporary Art, The Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie, Fe Gallery and other galleries in the United States and abroad. She was a finalist in the International WatercolorMasters Exhibition at Lilleshall Hall, England in 2022. Her painting titled “Gratitude” was curated into the Premier International Biennial Portrait Competition in 2019 at WMOCA by Margaret Bowland and she has exhibited alongside painters such as Grant Gilsdorf, Patricia Schappler, Megan Elizabeth Read and Terry Strickland.
Her paintings hang in private collections and are part of The Lunar Codex, both the Nova and Polaris Collections. She has been published in American Art Collector Magazine and has curated and had shows published through Hashtag Art Magazine.
She currently lives and works in the Philadelphia, Pa. area.
